Spinal Decompression

Back pain due to a herniated or bulging disc can be debilitating, and in the past, surgery was the answer. Today, we have highly-successful advanced technology that allows us to relieve this pain without surgery. We use a system that combines a machine with an exceptionally precise computer program for a treatment called spinal decompression.

Our spines carry the weight of everything we do from the minute we get up in the morning until we’re down at night. Impacts, twists, or overuse can lead to injuries in the vertebrae comprising the spinal column, compressing on the discs that rest between them. Dr. Can Ho of the Burleson Laser & Wellness Clinic performs spinal decompression in Burleson, TX, to relieve the issues this can cause.

How Does the Spine Become Compressed?

The vertebrae and discs in our backs stack on one another around the spinal cord to sustain our activities with the least amount of effort from the back muscles.

Jarring impacts, carrying heavy loads, improper posture - many things can cause the vertebrae to come out of alignment, which leads to spinal compression. The most common causes of this tend to be home and auto accidents, workplace incidents, and improper lifting practices. Regular back use over an extended period of time can lead to misalignments, even with no impacts or specific activities.

Misaligned vertebrae can pinch the nerves or discs in the area. When this happens, it will likely result in pain, tingling, and/or numbness to extremities such as arms and legs. Reduced circulation may lead to inflammation and soreness.

Some muscle groups in the back will also have to compensate for carrying the offset load, which will lead to aches and soreness.

Can Spinal Decompression Fix Misalignments?

Yes. By stretching the spine enough to provide discs with room to move back into their proper places, the nerves roots that are being pinched will experience relief. This will happen with other symptoms caused by the misaligned vertebrae. Muscles that were overworking to compensate for the weight imbalance can rest, allowing inflammation to subside.

We can also provide coaching on how to prevent misalignments. These suggestions can focus on whatever caused your current misalignment as well as other common causes.
